Joe Castleman (Jonathan Pryce) is awarded the greatest prize any author can receive – the Nobel Prize for literature. Together with his wife, Joan (Glen Close), he travels to Stockholm for the ceremony. It is there that tensions between them begin to rise. The amount of media attention and an intrusive journalist (Christian Slater) make Joan feel very uncomfortable.
